Presentation of the port of Cherbourg
Acces to the port
At the entrance of the Channel, access to Cherbourg Port is rapid and easy for ships with a draught up to 14 m.
Because of its position as an outer port for North-West Europe, being only 7 nautical miles from the main shipping channel, to stop over in Cherbourg is an important time saver compared to another channel or North sea port.
On land, port facilities are directly linked to road and rail networks.
Ship services
Ships have access to all technical services available: bunkering in the harbour or on berth, naval repairs using a ship elevator with a capacity of 4 500 tons.

Network - RO/RO Car ferries
Cherbourg offers shipping links with England and Ireland. The port has heavy duty Ro-Ro ramps capable of dealing with fast catamarans or the world’s largest ro/ro ships.
Quality Management
Cherbourg is known by the biggest ship operators for the quality and reliability of its port services. Cherbourg Ports’ equipment is particularly efficient and safe for Ro-Ro traffic : accompanied or un-accompanied trailers, new cars.
